BTW

Where do you start when you post about The Home Ground? I’ve been a fan of Brittany Campbell and her wonderful shop/site for awhile. Both her blog and her handmade jewelry collection are hypnotically splendid. There’s so much to love. Her use of imagery is so superb that you find yourself spellbound by it. Oh, and don’t get me started on her jewelry. Her gentle and elegant designs are sure to be perfect additions to any handmade collection. I know this for sure: two pairs of her lovely earrings are sitting in my wife’s collection. She loves them!

The Home Ground blog is a model of clean design and simplicity. I love Brittany’s clever use of photography to differentiate her categories. Her posts are insightful and introspective. Read this post for a great example of her writing style.

Brittany’s understated and yet elegant design aesthetic is fully on display within her jewelry collection. She is currently having a sale. Why not head over and pick out something lovely for your 1AM Promise purchase for the month? Follow The Home Ground on Twitter, Pinterest & Facebook.

I’m not sure how it’s possible to not like Pip Robins. Her unique & modern take on the cowl is too good to pass up. The fact that she incorporates the Handmade Trifecta as a part of her handmade business model makes her endeavors worthy of a deeper look.

There is so much to love about her shop setup on Bigcartel. Here are a few highlights:

  1. You can’t go wrong with a really clean aesthetic. As you will see, she carries her refined color scheme right on over to her website and her blog. This kind of uniform branding is a must. It’s easy to maintain. As someone who’s been known to overdo it on the imagery, I feel this is a great reminder that simple is often better and usually best.

  2. Pip is using the Block theme, one of the two that come with the Platinum, Diamond & Titanium plans. I’m a big fan of customization, but is her case, the theme works well and lets the focus stay on her great handmade creations.

  3. Speaking of her creative genius, you just gotta love her images. The contract & the use of the black background is just phenomenal.

  4. I also wanted to point out the obvious: selection, selection, selection! Offering a nice collection of items is a sure way to appeal to a broader audience. I like that she makes her inventive cowls for everyone: men, women & kids. No one is left out!

My favorite!

Lastly, her blog. Love that you can modify & customize WordPress to look exactly like you want it. In this case, it has a nice Tumblr vibe. Let us know if you need your WordPress site spruced up. Thanks Pip for a fab collection!

Show & Tell is the handiwork of Allison Lehman, a graphic designer and lover of periwinkle, gray & photography. Her Bigcartel shop is simple and sweet, using their free Gold plan. I think it’s a great example of offering your best and not over-filling a shop with fluff. While I love her 5 fabulous creations {especially this one}, it’s her blog that’s the real masterpiece.

There’s a whole lotta right happening here. Here are 4 things I really like about her WordPress blog:

  1. Love the logo. Simple and clean. If you had to choose between the logo on her shop page and the blog page, which one would you choose?

  2. I spent hours looking at her special features. Loved her interview with Ben Tousley. He did the album cover for Sondre Lerche’s Heartbeat Radio, a must-have masterpiece. I really believe that having interactive features like her photography challenges are a great way to get people engaged and connected to your brand.

  3. Creative content speaks for itself. If people knew how much work it takes to curate a post, they’d comment more. Bloggers love comments. You know it equals love right?

  4. Don’t forget your links! Link to your social media accounts, especially Twitter. And a blogroll is a great way to promote others and it helps your readers branch out. The web is a big place. It’s nice to have a little creative guidance and robust blogroll does just that.
