It’s hard to believe that these are made of wood. Yet, wonders of wonders, they are! Orli Tesler and Itamar Mendelovitch have developed a dazzling collection of handmade clutches, showcasing their immense talents as textile designers and artists.
So, you’re probably wondering as I did, how on earth are these made? Made from some of the most exquisite woods on earth, Tesler + Mendelovitch give the surface a unique geometric pattern that adds flexibility to the cluthes. The interiors are lined with leather for an added touch of durability and luxury. This talented team have spared no detail when making these and the end result is simply stunning.
One of my favorite features of their Etsy shop are the descriptions they provide of the woods they use. Beauty and an education at the same time? Genius! I’ve included a few of the descriptions below. Be sure to head over to Etsy and drool over all the handmade goodness there.
“Ebony is a rare and valuable wood which comes from a tree that can take over one hundred years to mature. Prized for its intense dark color, it is the darkest natural wood available. It has a tight grain and can be polished to marble-like smoothness. It is so dense it actually sinks in water. Its rarity and color make for a prized possession intended to last a lifetime.”
“Birch wood is fine-grained and has a pale cream color, often with an attractive satin sheen. Grain is generally straight or slightly wavy, with a fine, even texture. The tone goes with any color and can be dressed up or worn casually as a day piece.”
“Rosewood is a richly hued wood with deep red and brown tones and beautiful grain. The fragrant wood and red color inspired the name. Rosewood has become scarce all over the world which is why we do our best to design timeless pieces that will last a lifetime.”
