A Touch of Tribal with Handmade from Carton Bois

Here’s one of the great mysteries about Etsy: an artist who is admired by 1400+ people and yet has only 47 sales. Such is the case for Grete Bottamedi and her Carton Bois collection. Maybe her modern tribal-influenced pieces are too daring for the timid? Perhaps some look at these amazing pieces and think to themselves, “I couldn’t pull these off myself, but I sure wish I could!” Well, come on ya’ll, don’t be scared. These amazing pieces would look great on you too, trust.

I have to say, before I get into the pieces, that I love Grete’s packaging for the cuff pieces. Each container is laser cut and numbered. Grete has an love for architecture and it really shows in both her collection and the receptacles they arrive in. Now, onto the pieces!

Mixing leather, finnboard (a recycled material made from 100% pressed ground wood pulp) and hand-painted accents, Grete has put together quite a collection. She calls it “portable confidence for metropolitan warriors.” These are potent pieces that make a bold fashion statement.

Great products! The marketing side of me comes out and I wonder: could you increase the percentages of sales that come from these admirers (seemingly people interested in the product), to more than 3.5 percent by a change in price? Obviously–although easy to change with a mere click of a button–I’m not suggesting that’s something you necessarily do, since it does change how you have positioned your products, but I am curious if you have considered that!?
