My name is Andrea, the Metalsmith/Owner of Andrea Bonelli Jewelry. I’m a one woman show taking care of every aspect of my business and I work on each and every piece to bring my vision to your hands.
I’m self taught in everything that I do and I feel this is the best way to learn things at my own pace while creating pieces that mirror my artistic vision. Because of this my jewelry is always in a constant state of evolution as I hone my skills and find new and exciting textures and techniques to work with.
All of my jewelry is handcrafted by me in my Private Studio and I use recycled and ethically mined stones in my jewelry. I purchase recycled metals from reputable US based suppliers that follow high standards for recycled metals and green processing.
I also source out stone cutters and diamond suppliers that follow ethical mining standards to ensure that I’m creating pieces that you can wear with confidence.
When I have my wax carved pieces cast, I use a Casting Company that uses refined metals.
I donate to the Toolbox Initiative which is a program that enables jewelers in West Africa to be self sustaining by providing much needed commercial tools and supplies that are not readily available to them. Rio Grande Jewelry Supply is a partner that supplies the tools at a special discount. The Toolbox Initiative Gallery.
I also fund loans on Kiva which enables someone to grow a business and create opportunities for themselves.
I am also a member of Ethical Metalsmiths. Their mission is to “lead jewelers and consumers in becoming informed activists for responsible mining, sustainable economic development and verified, ethical sources of materials used in making jewelry.”
As a member I am committed to social and environmental responsibility regarding my Business practices.
No Dirty Gold is one of the campaigns by Earthworks. Earthworks is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting communities and the environment from the destructive impacts of mineral development, in the U.S. and worldwide. Earthworks stands for clean water, healthy communities and corporate accountability. They work for solutions that protect both the Earth’s resources as well as our communities.
When you purchase your jewelry from large Corporate chains you are supporting businesses that pollute the environment and land through irresponsible business and mining practices. Unfortunately many will claim to participate Green practices when they do not. To sign the pledge to be a responsible consumer and not buy Dirty Gold sign here.
