You can find joy in using an everyday object.
Handpicked by our team, each item on this website in some way redefines traditional ideas of itself – whether by form, function, material, or production method – to change the way you experience utilitarian items.
Objetik is a Montreal-based boutique showcasing original creations and local designers. Our aim is to promote creative design in Quebec and Canada, with the hope that you will be inspired by the innovative items designed right here.
Design in Quebec is not unified by the appearance of the items, but instead by the aspirations of our designers to create useful, impactful, and sustainable objects that are true to their materials and locally produced as much as possible. Objetik is about cultivating awareness of local design, its creators, and the dialogue about its trends, shifts, and conventions.
The founding faces behind Objetik are Tara and Adrian. Tara holds a Masters in Contemporary Design where her thesis searched for unifying themes in Canadian design. In her research, she discovered that unlike many other regions where local design styles are easily visually identified, Canada has not produced a distinct and unique style of design. Although Canadian design, nor Quebec design, is not yet highly visible on an international level, they possess the potential and growing momentum to become a key player in design on a global spectrum.
The fact that Canadian design culture is difficult to define is one of the driving factors behind the creation of Objetik, which aims primarily to be a collection of design works. A decade ago Tara made Montreal her home, where she met Adrian, an avid Tetris player and Physics degree holder who handles the business and tech end of things at Objetik. Along the way they picked up Darcy, their three-legged cat, and everyday he inspires them to persevere.
