Project ICANDOIT365

Project-365

Are you trying to take your handmade business to new heights in 2013? One of the best ways to increase your presence on the web is to have a regularly updated blog. It’s one of the 3 main pillars to building your own Handmade Trifecta: a great online web shop, vibrant social media and an active blog. Just ask Rori Harrington of Made By Rori. Just by regularly blogging, she increased traffic to her blog by 1,124%. This naturally translated into increase traffic to her Etsy shop.

But you might be thinking: ” I can’t blog everyday. I just don’t have the time.” I understand. I also know that many of you think that daily blogging has to be a huge choir, that you have to write profound and earth-shaking content. Nothing can be farther from the truth. To help prove that, I’m refreshing Project ICANDOIT365 to make daily blogging even easier. Here’s how it works:

Using images as the basis of your posts is the easiest way to blog. All you need to do is write a brief note. I could be descriptive, motivational or inspirational. If the image is from another source, just link it to its place of origin. That’s really all you have to do.

To assist you, I’m offering you a chance to really get your creativity going. Every month, I’m looking for submission of you photographs. I’ll pick a theme, then you go out and take a picture. You can use a camera, your smartphone or tablet. Once you find the shot you like, send me a copy here.

On the 20th of each month, I’ll do a post with all of your images and ask our readers to leave a simple comment with a 20 word or less caption for the images they fancy. All images will be linked back to you. You can then use the image and the captions you like to create a post on your blog. Plus, you can use the other images to create additional posts as well, as long as you link them back to their owner. Doesn’t that sound like fun?

OK, here’s this month theme: ‘Looking Up’. I’m looking for images taken by pointing your camera in that most positive of directions. It can include trees, buildings or any other structure, natural or manmade . No images which feature people will be used this round. Send you images of at least 600 px wide here. Please send your image by Friday, January 18, 2013. Again, all images submitted will be linked back to you, so please provide a location I can link to. As a bonus, all images submitted will also appear here on the permanent Project ICNADOIT365 page. Looking for a notebook to jot down you ideas? Use this one, designed by Rori, just for the project.

Well, what are you waiting for! Let’s blog together in 2013. Sky’s the limit!
