Here’s a collection worth getting lost in. Jason Gregory, the founder and principal designer behind Makr, is working diligently with his team to create handmade goods of lasting value. First, enjoy the video produced by Grain & Gram, one of my new must-reads:
First, I must say that I am really loving this continual drive toward handmade and handcrafted goods designed with longevity in mind. There are blogs out there like the aforementioned Grain & Gram as well as Those Who Make and Createmake that are opening eyes to the value of well-made items for everyday use. The creative gents behind these sites need to be interview on the LAB, don’t you think? One of my goals for 2013 is to expand our horizons by really getting to know some of the outstanding thinkers who are changing the way we see handmade.
OK, on to Jason’s great shop, shall we? It’s chocked full of so much handmade goodness. Makr specializes in making both bags and cases, as well as a line of furnishings. You know me, I always stop at the bags. Here are a few that I am loving from the shop:
The bags are everything you’d expect from a handmade collection: variety, attention to detail and expert styling. Since I’m partial to natural canvas, these are just perfect. There’s tons of options in the Makr shop. Be sure to head over and check out all the offerings. Also, take the time to read Grain & Gram’s excellent two part interview. One of my favorite lines in the interview is this descriptive comment about the Makr line:
“You’ll simply find a comfort and confidence that you can only gain from performing well at what it is you do.”
