Branding and Packaging: Delain Porcelain by Nick Edlin
Here’s a fun project by Nick Edlin for Delain, an Australian-based shop that features fine china crafted in Jingdezhen, China. Did you know that Jingdezhen has been the world’s most famous porcelain capital known for more than 1000 years? Me neither. This fun branding definitely adds an air of freshness to an incredible collection of designs. Check it our here and on Instagram.
About the design: “I was approached in late 2016 to design the brand, e-commerce website and packaging for a new retail business. Delain import fine porcelain from Jingdezhen China. The goal was to communicate the traditional porcelain craftsmanship and reference the local culture but also balance it with contemporary design and aesthetics.”
About the brand: “Delain, is a blend of ‘designer’ and ‘porcelain’ representing the Melbourne-based studio inspired by the young and vibrant artists and makers from Jingdezhen, China, the world’s most famous porcelain capital known for more than 1000 years.
Here at Delain, we introduce and support the ceramic artists who craft functional porcelain wares by the imaginative minds and the skilled hands. Here at Delain, we appreciate the harmony of the modern designs and the craftsmanship and techniques handed down and refined over a hundred generations. Here at Delain, we enjoy each piece of the handcrafted porcelain with the unique design and the lifelong-lasting quality inspired by the true stories and sentiments of life.”
