About the project: “Rebranding for a Spanish design and architecture studio, KUTARQ. The studio is known for its innovative but timeless designs and the use of unique and memorable details.

In order to visually express the characteristics of the studio, I explored the shape of a simple word-mark with a small twist. The logo as a whole has a modest look which gives the brand an approachable feel, while the unusual shape of the letter Q works as a hook to make the brand stand out.”

About the designer: “I’m an art director born in Japan and based in Munich, Germany. With over six years of industry experience, I’m active in branding, exhibition design and typography. I also create artworks to fashion brands, furniture companies and films.

Having a range of clients in Asia, Europe and North America, I’ve established my particular expertise in visual communication for cross-cultural contexts.

My work has been featured internationally, including in AIGA, Communication Arts, Domus, It’s Nice That, Monocle, Wallpaper*. I’m also passionate about teaching and sharing my experience and have given talks at different universities and design conferences.”
